Considerations to keep in mind

Pre-Run Tips for Your Dog

Before your dog's run, there are a few important steps to take to ensure they are ready for a safe and enjoyable workout:

Booking and Scheduling: We typically schedule runs a few days out, as same-day appointments can be difficult to accommodate. When booking a run, you'll receive an electronic liability form to sign. Please read it thoroughly.

Confirmation and Preparation: You'll receive a confirmation text the day before the session and a text when we’re on our way. This allows you to give your dog a recent potty break and get them leashed up and ready to go.

Harness: If your dog has a favorite harness, use it for their session. If not, we provide harnesses for safety and comfort.

Feeding: Make sure your dog has eaten at least 2 hours before their session. This prevents discomfort from a full stomach or bowels during the run.

Meeting the Mobile Dog Gym: Once we arrive, bring your dog(s) out to the mobile dog gym. If you need assistance at the door, let us know, and we are happy to help.

During the Run

Our focus during the run is on safety, positivity, and customizing the workout to your dog's needs:

Supervised Exercise: We closely supervise your dog's movements and encourage them to walk, trot, or run at their own pace, taking breaks and providing water as needed.

No Forced Movement: The equipment has NO MOTOR, meaning your dog does all the work voluntarily, ensuring a safe and natural workout.

Positive Reinforcement: We use cheering, clapping, squeaky toys, and overall love and affection to motivate your dog. We avoid treats to respect dietary needs and weight loss goals.

Owner Involvement: You are welcome to join the session to cheer on your dog or let us handle the workout while you attend to other tasks or relax at home.

Post-Run Tips for Your Dog

After the run, it's important to help your dog cool down and recover properly:

Cooling Down: Your dog might lie down and pant after the session, which is normal. Allow their heart rate to slow before offering food or water.

Post-Workout Energy: Some dogs might get a burst of energy post-run due to endorphins and adrenaline. This will settle as they relax.

Massage for Recovery: For unconditioned or older dogs, a gentle rubdown of their hind legs can help release lactic acid and prevent soreness in the days following the workout.

Follow-Up: We will follow up within a week of their first session. Feel free to reach out anytime with feedback or questions.

Other Considerations

Scheduling Your Dog’s Sessions

We offer weekly, bi-weekly, and on-demand scheduling options. Most people find that once a week provides great mental and physical benefits for their dog. During hot summer months, when outdoor options are limited, you might consider increasing to twice a week. We are here to help discuss options tailored to your dog's specific needs.

Handling Multiple Dogs and Non-Social Dogs

Our mobile dog gym offers private 1:1 sessions, ensuring a focused workout for your dog. We can accommodate up to two dogs if they live together or are pre-approved neighbors or friends. If your dog is not dog-friendly, this private setting is ideal for their comfort and safety.

K9 Instructors

All our K9 Fitness Coaches are selected and trained for their warm, friendly personalities and professional dog-handling experience. Your dogs are in great hands, regardless of their size or personality.

Payment

We accept cash, check, and card. You can prepay via Square invoice, save a card on file, or pay at your sessions.

Requirements

Always clear any physical activity with your veterinarian first. Our canine clients must be at least 4 months old and up to date on all vaccinations. We accommodate dogs from 2 lbs. to 250 lbs. and have experience with various physical and mental conditions. Please inform us of your dog's needs, and we'll do our best to accommodate them. Note that we do not accept human-aggressive dogs.
